宏都拉斯難民潮/莊峻華

宏都拉斯難民組團，行軍北上，聯合國估計約有七千五百人，

美國國內輿論，又開始炒此題，藉此題挑起國人反難民移民情

續，影響再過一週之國內期中選舉，我之網球球友，羅吉爾素

知我投民主黨人，與其共和黨人保守想法有異，特別考我，如

何處置？這是世界所面臨之一大問題，我在球局結束後，繼續

與其說明我之處理方法。

依非法入境法處理，川普聲言要動用軍力，圍堵美墨邊界，還

有他引以為快之分離家庭政策，更要取消經援給路過之國，像

瓜地馬拉和墨西哥，我不清楚墨西哥尚有美援否？傳統之美國

政策和手段，是軍政經三方下手，台灣就是一成功之例，南韓

也是，都是殖民地轉變成功之國度，美國，加拿大，和澳洲等

，都是成功之轉型國家，百分之八十之類似國家，均無法達成

，都是未理想，抑或失敗之國，原因兩點，國民教育和貪官污

吏，所以歐巴瑪總統，授邀西敏寺演講，英國上下兩院，因為

他幾度訪問非洲，所強調者為此兩項，學校教育和清廉政府，

鼓勵非洲諸國。

英國保守反移民勢力，投票脫離歐盟，主要是不滿以德法為首

之歐盟難民分配額，此法通過後，已經兩年，掉一首相，現今

女首相亦無策以對，至今英國各地，都是移民面孔。歐美社會

絕對無法容許，嚴酷執行其所訂之移民法，這些移民，或是難

民，都是求生存，也不能責備他們利用歐美人道社會習慣，即

始在中國俄羅斯之強權國度，仍有許多難民問題，雖然中國人

移民國外，本身也是大問題，應驗中國諺語，人往高處爬，水

往抵處流。

一位有為之國際政治家，像美國德國日本等，均可善用國家實

力，協助解決難民問題，這些國家，人口之增加，無法使國家

資源跟上，所以美國一直有政策幫助，美國幫助過戰後之歐洲

，日本，台灣，南韓等國，聯合國也進來幫忙，現在之歐盟，

我相信日本也有類似之國策，這是世界問題，美國無義務幫忙

，但有道義支持，這是美國價值，基督精神之實踐。

Taking off for cruises/Carlos Pueblo

Tomorrow afternoon, I am taking off for cruises on the Eastern

Caribbean from Boston to San Juan, Porto Rico back to back. I’ll

be back on the Thanksgiving Eve. I have missed my adopted

daughters on board very much, managed my Cruise Next vouchers

and Michelle’s electronic gift certificate, etc. I don’t mind the repeat

of the itinerary because the cruise travel is very comfortable. I’ll be

passing through St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Antigua, Tortola,

and San Juan, Porto Rico, first route coming back to Boston and

reposition to Porto Rico and called a back to back.

I love cruise trip because that all rooms, board, and transportation

is covered, plus excellent restaurants mostly included and fantastic

services, restaurants and rooms. This time, I am going to learn how

to enjoy hot top in order to take some hot springs treatment in both

Japan, Europe and Colorado, U.S.

I am closely monitoring of the cruise in December as well. I do see

two or more attractive routes and I’ll wait till the last minute.

東加勒比海旅行去也/莊峻華

明天傍晚搭機赴波士頓，上黎明號，東加勒比海旅行去也，

一直到四週後，從波多黎哥山璜市，搭機返家，不是我閒著

無聊，亦非我喜歡加勒比海，而是我想念船上愛女，而且我

尚有五張訂金票，尚未用盡，有四年期限，我不喜浪費，更

不愛如此拖到最後一秒，我已經告假目前老年生活中之朋友

，包括社區愛犬群，三愛貓，網球局伴，日語課老師同學，

桌球伴，當然，還有全球捧場之讀者知音，我已經投票矣，

心中無憾，股市暴跌，我不為所困擾。

郵輪旅行有方便處，無需吃苦耐老，為每日食衣住行擔憂，

我可逐漸遊覽許多海港，更重要者，為認識許多勤奮工作，

有禮貌之美女，真是人生一樂也。

我正注意幾艘郵輪，十二月報價，也許能再成行，我無法長

居郵輪，但可以常有郵輪旅行，其間穿插日本行，英國行，

歐洲行，時間飛馳，一年過一年，生活真是漸入佳境。

Pei-ven, my newly adopted daughter, recommended me visit Newcastle

while I stayed at York, England and I booked two nights instead. Her point

is that Newcastle has classical and contemporary combination of the U.K.

and is very lovely. I had experienced a hard time for my short train ride

from York to Newcastle due to a system down of certain routes that day

in England. I was alright in compare with a roommate’s overnight arrival.

When I was looking for my hostel, I passed by the Newcastle Castle area

Including the St. Nicholas Cathedral. I always have had a hard time when

I first arrive to a new city and find the location where I stay because I

solely rely on the commercial map for local business and sometime the

street map provided by the local city. In this city, I finally figured out the

street and the Grey’s Monument and located my hostel. I walked out to

the City Center after releasing my luggage. First visit was Laing Art Gallery

and then followed by the campus of the Northumbria University, an

university of polytechnic in compare with the traditional University of

Newcastle. After coming back to the main street where I entered the

campus, I saw the direction of the Grey’s Monument and the actual

City Center. There were people gathering on the square downhill to

the adjacent old Newcastle.

I went ahead walking to the Chinatown area to have my late lunch.

This is a two streets section of the old city with a Chinese Arch and

the old West Wall. In the entrance, there is a beautiful green with

a Chinese name post on it. During my stay, I had been there several

times for meals and passed by some additional times. One time for

lunch, I ran into a small Cantonese eatery and chatted with the owner

and her daughter. They were from Hong Kong and very friendly. The

younger daughter recommended me visit a market by the River Tyne

not far from the old Castle. I wish that I adopt her as my daughter next

time.

The University of Newcastle campuses are split around the City. I took

some photos of several colleges. The medical campus is on the northwest

part of the Civic Center, another popular square with a statue of one

significant figure. One morning, I marched toward an outer side of the City,

passing by a private university campus and a residential subdivision and

walked into a newer immigrants area with an Indian Sikh Temple and a

Buddhist Association Office down to a business street full of Asian

Immigrants.

新城堡市，音譯紐開索，是此行最尾一站，原為愛女佩文推薦，

遊約克市，順便一逛，未料我特別安排兩夜，非常價值。新城堡

在英格蘭東北角，原為征伐蘇格蘭之海港，她說城市亦有古蹟，

而且整潔美麗，有兩座著名大學，諾桑布莉亞和新城堡大，都在

市中心。簡單分區，有老新城堡，新城堡市中心，市區廣塲，甚

至有一華埠拱門，城中心，有一高碑，格勒斯紀念碑，紀念這位

下院議員，對英國政治之貢獻。

我在約克至新城堡火車途中，稍有意外，後來始知當日，英國鐵

道大當機，車班延誤，一片混亂，我之班次時間到，月台停者，

為前一班車，上車後始發現，連站位均難覓，車到一站後，全列

車乘客，均得下車，擠上一班來車，再行新城堡，翌日，一室友

解釋凌晨抵達客棧之窘況，原是換車之混亂。

我托行李巡覓客棧，就路過老新城堡之古城堡，非常特別，當時

並未特別注意到，聖尼古拉斯大教堂，放下行李後，走出客棧，

開始逛街，此市街道整齊寬闊，新穎美觀，先參觀拉穎美術館，

然後就抵達，諾桑布莉亞大學，此為原多種工藝大學，有別於新

城堡大之文法醫專門，諾大有一廣大校園，一直擴張到高速路外

圍。我看到新城堡大學一高樓校區大名，我就拍照留念，後來發

現新城堡大學各學院，遍佈全市。

格勒斯塔，高聳入天，英國人紀念偉人，比皇帝更加注重，這是

實事求是，因此國家富強，塔中心分行諸大道，我找到唐人街，

與古城牆比鄰，有兩條街，一處有碧茵草皮，一日我在一小餐廳

吃麵，與一店主女兒暢談，她們來自香港，最近發現有些英國讀

者，我想就是此位美麗小姐，當日彼甚忙碌，來不及提出認養義

女要求，她建議我逛河邊市場，我又走回老城堡市區。

老城堡旁，就是聖尼古拉斯大主教堂，新城堡市古城堡，仍舊維

謢甚佳，已是博物館，河邊市場，需下階梯，走向泰茵河畔，河

另一岸，也有市區，很遺憾未有雄心拜望。我曾延車站外圈，走

向北方，經過一大學校園，走到一移民社區，有一印度錫克廟，

走回市區，又看到一佛教會，參著於街道店面中。

During my Oxford stay, a Chinese visitor heard my scheduling of Leeds visit and

recommended the Royal Armories Museum. I desired to visit Leeds because of

my University President, Mr. Sun Kun-tseng, received a master degree from

Leeds and I was so closed to the University in York, England. I didn’t research the

City and then noticed the city is the second most populated in the United Kingdoms

next to London as a financial center, larger than Manchester and Birmingham, etc.

It was a long march in a day because the distance between the two location. Leeds

is a lovely city with both traditional and contemporary architecture. The University

campus is beautiful and the Armories is amazing.

I walked through the City Center with tall buildings and wider streets for vehicles

toward the campus. There is a main building in the front with a single tower and

a modern library by it. I believe that the main building is the original structure of

the University. I walked directly toward all the colleges behind it. I found the

college of education, department of physics, and turned to the school of business,

etc. There is a huge park with lots of tennis courts on it. Two ladies mounted polices

told me it’s a city park. Next to the park, there is an old church with a good size of

churchyard in front of a dormitory building. I continued to walk back and entered a

reception room for a welcome party of new international students.

I met a retired professor of the electrical engineering who came to the party to help.

He was from Hong Kong and with a Ph.D. degree from the Rensselaer Polytechnic

Institute. He was very surprised that I knew the university in upstate New York because

I made a special effort to visit the campus at Troy, New York one year because I did try

to apply for scholarship from that university when I was in Taiwan and also, a closed

friend of my brother, Frank Huang from our hometown, had his post-doctoral research

there in the mid-70’s. This retired professor was a nuclear power plant expert and he

told me what I had seen during my train ride from Bristol to Oxford and Birmingham to

York were not nuclear power plants. I checked the Google that the cooling towers which

he indicated might be the same designer of three miles island nuclear power plant.

I marched again on the opposite direction from the campus toward the Royal Armories

Museum on the Dock square of the River Aires. This is quite a new building with a very

impressed collection. I see all kinds swords, bows and arrows, halberds, armors for both

man and horse, pistol and rifle, etc. There are also rooms for Japanese armories collection

and I am very impressed with the samurai swords, improved rifle Japan edition with gunstock

inlaying with metal.

在牛津市客棧，有位中國遊客聞我，將旅行約克和里治兩市，

立即推薦敏斯特大教堂，和里治市之皇家軍械博物館，我選里

治市，因為我在台師大就學時，孫亢曾校長學歴，是里治大學

教育碩士，當年師大正規科班出身教授之一。我原以為里治市

，默默無名，後查谷歌，原來是倫敦市外，英國第一大城市，

排名前於曼徹斯特市，和伯明罕市，是倫敦市外第一大財務中

心，市中心有較多新穎建築，里治大學，步行可及。

大學門口，有一美麗歌德式建築，我拍照後，直接走向背後之

學院科系大樓，顯然里大也是多種用途學府，我找到教育學院

，物理系，並看到商學院，校園內與一市立公園相接連，有幾

座網球場，有女騎警巡邏，很奇怪有一宿舍大樓，和一古教堂

和墓地相連。

學校迎新國際學生，我在中心，遇見一位退休之香港教授，和

他相談甚久，原來他在蘭斯勒多工藝大學，電機博士後，來里

治任教，核能發電專家，和台電有合作，普通話也很流利，在

紐約就讀時，認識許多台大工科同學，我因申請過該校，且有

峻嚴同學副任兄，曾在蘭大任職，所以一年，特別繞道托利鎮

，拜訪該校。他是告知我，火車途中所見諸發電廠，並非核能

發電廠者也。

皇家軍械博物館，在火車站另一方向，在愛里斯河畔碼頭，今

名軍械廣場。此皇家博物館所收集，多半是刀槍甲冑，英國製

造，果然精緻，連戰馬都有謢身之甲冑，打獵用槍戟，五花多

門，英帝國尚武，其來有自。

日本和中國，都給專室展覽，中國則未善用，沒有兵器展示，

日本則否，果然展示，幕府時代以來之產品兵器甲冑，刀戟弓

箭服裝等，我在電影上看到，織田信長，見到西來火槍後，立

購五百枝，令武士刀匠，馬上仿造，博物館內，各式日本槍，

都是精緻品，槍管千錘百鍊，槍托木都是鑲金，非常令人喜愛

，我曾參觀過巴黎陸軍博物館之礟，格林威治之大英海軍博物

館之軍艦，英礟博物館應在罕普頓，留待下次參觀。

The City of York is a historical compact of the British Empire as I

have described previously, the Romans remains of the York Castle

Park, museum, courts, and city hall area, etc., the Viking era of the

Jorvik Center adjacent to it; the Medieval European Streets, the

Shambles Market, and the distinguish Minster Cathedral and the

garden park next to it. Of course, the old Castle Walls and Gates

after thousands years, etc.

Usually, I walk down to the Micklegate Street from my hostel toward

the York Castle direction. At the first, I would reach to a Market area

now I know is the Shambles on the left or to the right of the York

Castle Area where I was anxious to visit. Then, gradually I was attracted

to the eatery sets of the river bank, the River of Ouse, on both directions

across the Ouse Bridge. I had marched toward a river bank park twice on

my way to the University of York Campus and walked once toward another

direction through streets by the river and witness the City Cruise traffic

on the river.

I had had meals at several sandwich restaurants at a square center near the

Shambles. There is a narrow street called Shambles Street starts with a small

chapel with about 6 feet wide brick layer full of visitors. It is also a site of the

famous movie, Harry Potter. The busy street can reach to the King’s Square

and the mighty Minster Cathedral. I walked to those destinations on a rainy

afternoon and reached to the Yorkshire Museum and the Museum Garden.

The Minster is unique and brings back my lovely memory of visits of the Notre-

Dame Cathedral on the Seine in Paris, France; the Reims Cathedral south of

Paris; and the Barcelona Cathedral, etc. all the European great churches. Even

In the rain, the Museum Garden was still lovely and there is an old Roman

Ruin on site.

I did have two marches on the ancient walls surround the city. They are well

maintained by the city. I started from Micklegate Bar nearby, visited the gate

house and one toward the train station and one toward the other direction

toward the river bank park to the York Barbican Center. The walls have been

interrupted by rivers with several gates with significant historical memory,

such as the Monkgate of Richard III, a guard house gate on Museum Street

Lendal Bridge, etc. One day, I came back from the Minster and ran into a

Chinese restaurant to have a hot beef noodle.

近代城市無城無牆，但約克市仍有古城牆，行軍城中心，非常

可行，我在此城五日，進出均過美麗之城中，留下深刻美憶，

連客棧都是古代豪宅改裝，需經樓梯登上五樓。我稍介紹過羅

馬時代，留下來之古蹟，就是約克城堡和博物館，市府和法院

區，維金時代遺址，也在附近，古老教堂，佈落於米科爾城門

街上，一直到中心小廣場，我找到一露天市場，可購買水果，

後來發現也有肉市塲，小吃攤和飯店旁，就是著名之約克香部

落區之開始，一條窄街，歐洲聞名，也在哈利波特電影中出現

，可領遊客，逛到鼎鼎大名之約克城，敏斯特大教堂。

其間經過者，為保存甚佳之古中世紀，歐洲市鎮商區，仍舊保

持每日營業，然後抵達這一宏偉之大教堂，敏斯特大教堂，與

倫敦泰晤士河畔之西敏寺，可相較量，巴黎市塞內河中之聖母

大教堂，萊姆斯大教堂，在巴黎市南方等，我去過之歐洲之最

。敏斯特旁，有一大花園，因在雨中，撐傘走進約克市博物館

和花園，花園中也保存一羅馬古蹟，房柱破牆，我在雨中，無

人監視，採下兩粒橙梨，結果是酸澀不可食。

依路標過一美麗之城堡橋堡，走回米科爾城門街，我實在想念

一碗熱麵，進去一家中餐廳，有兩位美麗之約大中國新生，餐

廳幫忙，我們有一愉快之對話，我對近年中國家庭，投資子女

留學國外，印象深刻，終舊上歐美學校教育，可以影響未來之

中國，已經影響日本，香港，新加坡，和台灣等地國，離去前

，我又回去吃碗麵，兩位小姐尚在幫忙，非常親切。

約克城有古城牆，從車站到客棧，行軍到約大校園，都可見到

古城牆，我曾上過一小段，一日，我決心上牆行軍，十分有趣

，於是我重復一次，雖言未見識過古中國萬里長城，若登約克

牆行軍，吾心願已足矣。我從米科爾城門上牆，走向車站方向

，城牆都在歐斯河中斷，需要下牆過河再上牆，牆內外都是公

般住宅，牆內有土坡，長滿高草，牆外保持高牆垂直可防禦，

經過著名之僧門，里察三世紀念館，約克城外堡門，都維謢甚

佳，從米科爾門另一方向，也有一段甚長之牆，我兩次行軍，

取道城牆下河畔公園，兩次行軍牆上，過河後，再從外堡城門

上牆，又走上一陣到牆盡，雖無萬里，但可類比長城可步行之

真正距離。

The main campus of the University of York is located outside of the

City Center. I had marched twice toward the campus and made it on

the second attempt. One morning, I walked toward the City Center

on Micklegate Street across the Ouse Bridge and down a park on the

river bank. There are seats arranged in the park for visitors, as a matter

of fact, the park is designed to be a buffered zone for flood out of the

river. We’re on the same side of the ancient Romans Castle. There is

an unique brick house attached to the bridge like an old guard barrack

and served as a restaurant nowadays. I followed a sign of the University

direction according to my strength of daily march. I was lost somewhere

among residential areas and turned back to a part of the city Wall. On

the next morning, the hostel manager pointed it to me to the same

direction and I made it after several asking on the streets. It is called

Heslinton, York, an uphill highland outside of the city wall.

Most visitors would take bus or driving to the campus; however, I had

had plenty of time to enjoy my visit. Various departments and colleges

buildings are split around a long lake. There is a shopping center inside

the campus to provide residents daily needs. I followed the pedestrian

paths between buildings with three or more crossing to the lake. Buildings

are far apart from each other in a beautiful landscape campus arrangement.

I walked into the international students house for a cup of onion soup in a

freezing rain morning. I kept on walking to see huge groups of seasoning

birds, swans, geese. ducks, and some unknown gathering on the banks

ground of the lake. Finally, I made a turn at the end of the lake. An old

brick building called Heslinton College, the original one and is still in

function. In front of it, there is an unique Silent Woods Park with plenty

of tall trim bushes.

I always admire the university. The university of a nation can show the

strength of the national education effort; therefore, I can foresee the

outcome or the future of that nation. I have regretted very much that

I didn’t fully utilize my opportunity of studying at college. Of course, I

make some excuses yet I still love to visit the university everywhere I

go.

約克大學校園，在市中心外，一般人均搭巴士往返，我是決心

行軍拜訪，首次，行軍歐斯河畔公園，過一雙河匯合橋，有路

標指示大學方向，結果我在一住宅區打轉，在外堡折回，走了

一段城牆，在城中心下來，翌晨，決心完成心願，按照客棧經

理指點，依原路走回走失地點，再問路人，過小坡，越來越像

校園，我已經看到幾位中國學生，他們均走向校園方向，約大

其實是在黑斯林頓，校園內有一長湖，學園建築，都在湖畔，

大學圗書館，在公路另側。

校園有湖泊，真是詩情畫意，讀書好環境，兩湖畔間，是有步

徑木板鐵橋相連接，我在國際學生中心喝碗熱湯，然後繼續沿

湖岸小徑參觀，候鳥群仍舊留守，一群群棲息湖攤上，我想到

當年美國留學生，校園湖畔拾蛋逸事，回程中，我傳授此點，

給一北江蘇來之新生，課餘拾蛋鹽制鹹鵝蛋，其醫生父親曰，

鵝蛋老硬不宜云云。我是走到校湖盡頭，一修葺美麗之寧靜樹

園，就在黑斯林頓古老大樓前面，此紅磚樓，為原黑斯林頓學

院，現在之約大，幾百年來，仍然使用中，來去之道路，果株

兩旁，亦曰黑斯林頓街。

走了大半天，正想在街上看到之中餐廳吃麵，結果尚在打烊中

此市中餐廳，多在傍晚，開始營業，後來，我在城中心，找到

一家，中午開業，一直到夜晚。

約克大學，也是一完整之學府，提供學術研究，幾乎各種專業

學院都包括在內。
