The Spring of the Northern Country

1. White birth, blue sky, and south wind on the hill where the kobashi flower bloom in the northern country. In the city, you wouldn’t know the season’s difference, says the little package that my mother sends me. Shall I return to that hometown? Shall I? Shall I?

2. The snow is melting, the creek bubbles, and I see the round wood bridge. The Karamatsu pines are budding in the northern country. Aha, the northern country. Without being able to say to each other that we love each other, it’s five years since we parted. What would be that girl doing now? Should I return to that hometown? Should I return? Should I return?

3. Yamabuki flower, the morning fog, and the farmhouse with the water mill are all in my mind for the northern country. My older brother resembles my father, they both say few words, I wonder if they are drinking sake together occasionally. Should I return to that hometown? Should I? Should I?

北國之春

1. 白樺、青空、南風，辛荑花盛開的北國山崗，都市居，不識季節更迄，衹待母親寄來小郵包，啊，北國的春天，我的故鄉，盍不歸去？

2. 融雪、溪水潺流、我過圓木小橋，落葉松已萌芽於北國，啊，北國的春天。我所暗戀的女孩，末及傾訴愛慕，已別離五載，未知今日安在？我的故鄉，盍不歸去？

2. 山吹花、朝露、水車小屋，似聞北國童歌，啊，北國的春天。長兄酷似父親之木訥寡言，我常猜測兩人偶爾對飲小酌。我的故鄉，盍不歸去？
