What is Asia? program director on You Tube interviews Yue Chen, a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Oregon to present the citizen of Manchukuo, 1932-1945. Manchuria has been a place in Chinese history with invading and conquering Chinese dynasties, i.e. the latest one in 1644 toppled the Ming Dynasty and set up Manchu Dynasty, 1644-1911. Japanese army after Russo-Japan War, 1904-1905, occupied Manchuria and eventually established a regime called Manchukuo, 1932-1945. Chen is researching the movies industry of this period. I am also interesting in Manchukuo because that I have learned very much even since my childhood in Taiwan. We all, Manchuria as well as Taiwan, experienced identical colonial rule of Japan with so kinds of impression very different from Chinese rule later in this century.

This area is also called the Northeast of China. It was with bigger territory than larger than Texas with more than 40 million population or citizen, Chinese Han race, Manchurian, Korean, Mongolian, White Russian, and some others like Taiwanese living in that nation. I check on the Wikipedia on the Google with a great impression. I believe that Manchukuo in the most advanced on just next below Japan and Taiwan. Taiwan was ruled by Japan between 1895 to 1945 with a little bit longer period of time. I am told that Manchuria is the most backward part of China nowadays. I am very sorry.

I like to see that one day Manchuria can be an independent nation in this world following Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tibet, East Turkistan, Inner Mongolia, and others in China to be parted with China, a failed nation. I believe that that day is coming.
