German spirit/Carlos Pueblo

Germany after WWII was perished second times. This is the third discussion

of my current nation of a previous empire after Japan and Great Britain

following my report of the seminar of Taiwan, China, and the United States

triangular relations by decade’s end held in Houston, Texas. I have had two

monthly long trips to Germany and done some understanding and written

my journal about Germany and I firmly believe that Germany as well as the

European Union should be included as a major factor for the independent

Nation of Taiwan. Luckily, Professor Hsieh Chi-wei is the current representative

For Tsai’s Administration and he is the man.

From what I found, the Western Roman Empire was toppled by the German

speaking kingdoms in the 5^th century and the Eastern in current day Istanbul

became Byzantine and Ottoman followed up. Europe became a German

dominant the Holly Roman Empire, the emperors were elected by a voting

council of city states at that time. I know at least two such emperors, Maria

Theresa of the Austro-Hungary Empire and King Charles IV of Prague, Bohemia.

A German state capital in Berlin called Prussia became very dominant in the

middle of 19^th century after Napoleon destroyed the Holly Empire in the first

half of that century. The famous premier, Otto von Bismarck, helped the Prussia

Kaiser to defeat three European Empires, 1860 Viking of Copenhagen, 1862

Austro-Hungary of Vienna, and 1865 Louis Napoleon of Paris. The German city

States held a conference at a church in Frankfurt to elect Prussia Kaiser as the

Emperor of a newly founded German Empire. In 1917, the Empire collapsed due

to the first European War and the Nazi Germany collapsed again in 1945 after

the great WWII. Germany has stood up from the perish and become the leader

of the European Union nowadays.

Germany, a current nation of a previous empire, has inherited a lot of historical

glory and previous owned empire territory including current day Poland, Baltic

three nations, Czech Republic, and even Belarus, etc. There is no territory claim

of anything similar to China, another current nation of a previous empire. A

German youngster whom I met in Oahu, Hawaii indicated Germany paid a heavy

price for the defeated war. I also met many Chinese students schooling in Germany

and I sincerely hope after their study and return to China and become the back bones

of China, they can learn Germany.

that I like to share with you.

You're so right. I can also point out an example within my family. My cousin, a gynaecologist,

went to the University of Bonn in 1963 and completed his training and worked briefly in that

nation and took a Fulbright scholarship and came to NYC. The story was that he had a hard

time to get a green card because he didn't dare to go back to Taiwan and waited for such visa.

He is your alumnus, Taiwan University Medical School. Germany at that time was rare in demand

domestically. Even now, the supply and demand market of such level is about the same. The

case of your classmate that I can imagine the reason. Germany purchased nuclear power from

France at the beginning and now totally stop everything of nuclear power plant.

What I mean for the immigrant's priority in Europe is based on the acceptance of refugee from

the middle east even including the Turks, a former ally of the German Empire.
