Visiting
Bridgetown, Barbados/Carlos Pueblo
There is
quite a distance from the pier to the old Bridgetown; therefore I march
as usual. It
is a boulevard along the rocky beach there and behind it there are 6
major cruise
vessels anchoring off shore. I ran into Yuan Yuan, my lovely Chinese
daughter at
the atrium front desk, and she completed her early visit to the town.
I made a
turn left toward the busier streets and ran into some street vendors,
two Jehovah
Witness ladies, then walking toward the higher courthouses park
and
neighborhood subdivision. On my way back, I ran into more street vendors
and a
regular indoor market.
I first met
Yuan Yuan was on the 2nd Dawn cruise and she was assigned outside of
the counter of
customers service to intercept the que for some simple service. Now
I am
confused where she is from, either Hebei Province or Sandong, anyway, they are
in the
northern part of China. She is a beautiful and lovely girl with very good
manners.
I am very
proud to introduce all my daughters in this department, the best of Dawn.
Ana, GSAM,
guest service area manager with 2 and a half strip on her shoulders. Silvia
Lin of the
Taiwanese Argentine her Kanji first name, Chia-Lien, is derived from her
mother and
father’s hometowns in Taiwan, Chia Yi and Hualien. He Zhang is from
Wuhan,
Hubei, a very attractive lady. Mary Ann Go, a Filipino lady with a Chinese
surname
, is because
that her parents may speak Amoy like my
mother tongue. Go means Wu in
Mandarin, is
a very popular last name. Romaila, another pretty that I sometimes am
Confused with
Silvia. More, three more from the 3rd trip with Dawn, Xiaotong Rong
from
the Sky, is
from Tsindao, Sandong; Elaina from Brazil is very pretty and sweet with good
manners. I
must apology for this last lady from Bosnia, a slender beauty who has been
to two famous
mountains in the Chinese traditional martial arts legendary, Wudan
Mountain of
the Daoism in Hubei and Wu Mountain nearby Chongching, Sichuan. She
spoke
Mandarin.
The old town
streets were full of people, both the locals and the passengers from the
cruises ships.
While tourists were looking for beautiful beaches and shopping, I was
engaging the
tropical fruits searching. I did pass by
a mongo stand with native species
small kinds.
One piece asked for one U.S. It looked better than at Curacao yet I skipped
it and kept
on moving. I went to say Hi to two ladies of Jehovah Witness stand. I
expressed my
respect of their effort to save souls in the world. I asked Rosie Hunt, a
singer on
the cruise ships. One of the ladies was her old classmate and hadn’t seen her
since both
left school. I have had two singers daughters on board, Kayrie and Danielle,
are both
from this island. I kept on moving toward the main national courthouse park
area. There
are so many beautiful red flowers on big trees which I don’t know the name.
It looks as
red as royal Poinciana, or delonix regia; however, it’s not, the laters are next
side by side
no yet blooming. I entered to an old neighborhood with some re-innovated
job done.
On my way
back to the ship, I did walk by a street full of vendors for fruits and
vegetable.
Later, there
is an indoor market with half full vendors without meat and fish sections
open. A man quarreled
with someone in a loud voice really made everyone very
uncomfortable.
I asked the Jehovah Witness lady about the high food price and she
told me
simply that they still needed to live. I can imagine the economic that a small
island with limited
resource and regularly pulled in so many tourists with cash to buy
that will
drive up the price if not well prepared to meet the demand.
