Two tennis games on Saturday/Carlos Pueblo

Finally, there was a dry day on Saturday for the spring. There was no

Spanish class; therefore, I had no restraint on time to play the league

match far away at Katy, Texas. A teammate, Paul, gave me a ride to the

Eagle Point Club and my double partner, John, took me back to our own

courts. Incidentally, there was a need of a fourth player, I joined to the

second game of the morning and I was exhausted when I got home not

quite late in the morning.

The first game was no match at all. Our opponents are younger and better

than us rarely make errors. Sometimes, I feel that if I should continue the

exercises yet I feel no pain on any part of my body, i.e. my joints. I am still

concerned if I make my partner embarrassed. While on my second game at

the home court, I felt much more comfortable due to similar level of tennis

scale. I like this kind of tennis that I can obtain very much needed exercises.

My son Arthur is off during the weekend and I can have more time to prepare

our dinner in the late afternoon. His mother is away in Las Vegas, the Grand

Canyon, and Los Angeles for their sisters’ reunion. I have done four dinners and

five more to go. He is very nice to me and finishing all what I have provided. He

works at night and that’s why she prepares his dinner early late in the afternoon.

I wrote a piece on my blog about an old Japanese song, Hokkiko, an amended

edition of a popular song in the dormitory at Manchuria, China before the War.

I did some Google search and completed in both Kanji and English edition on the

same Saturday before and after the two tennis games. Since I am making some

progress in Japanese language, I shall introduce some more of my favorite old

songs. The next one will be Miyako no ame ni, means the Capital city in the rain.

I like the composer, the original male singer, and a female singer of my favorite.

I’ll introduce her to you, she is about my age and out of the stage for a long time.

The spring is finally here. I go out to the garden on the back yard and shake some

flowers on the lemon trees and pick off some yellow leaves. There are still bees

around even as the mandarin orange tree blossom. We’ll have a good harvest in

the late fall and I shall go to neighbors for some of their harvest. There are many

tangerine trees in the subdivision; however, American are mostly not interested

to eat them, they prefer to the orange juice.

春日終於到來，今日西語先生有事，我可以網球局，不受時間限

制，清晨依安排，到本隊球場等待便車，我們到西區20哩外，一

路上保羅和我談起日產豪華級車，我的98Q45，他之12M37，我

們都有共同之車亮警告紅燈問題，有待解決。約翰是我之雙打夥

伴，今日對手，年輕穩定強勁，我們很快落敗下陣，我請約翰給

我便車，他是保險代理，一路上我們談到保險生意。本隊球場上

仍有隊友球局，三缺一，於是我請求加入，這是較初級球友，於

是順利完成一局，我的夥伴是位年輕少婦，擊球過頭截殺，均甚，

有勁，皆大歡喜，回家後，已經精疲力盡，倒頭就睡。

今明兩日，元兒例假，所以我有充份時間，準備其晚餐，今日水

餃，明日牛肉麵，我們家由愛美煮晚飯，早餐自理，元兒和我，

不食午餐，愛美隨其姊，赴洛城遊大峽谷，她們有四姊妹，在西

部團聚，我已經渡過四晚餐工作，元兒捧場，餐餐食盡，而且幫

忙清除罔腰子之糞盒，罔腰是一拾來金色小貓，已經高齡16，初

來我家，常為另貓欺負，我誤以為䧳性故名子，愛美隨子女呼彼

麥迪生。

網誌上面很多破題新聞，川普一大案結束報告，柯文哲市長結束

訪美，我寫下北歸行演歌心得漢英文版，每天作文一則，非常有

趣。我之老年生活，非常規律，選擇我之生活方式，最近之日西

語課，帶來忙碌之一週，讀書雖難有記憶，但仍然有趣，我本想

煩先生翻譯北歸行，但谷歌搜索後，已經差強人意，這歌詞之創

作，宇田博當年僅19歲，當年同鄉會之老人曰，只要當年高中畢

業生，即可看懂。

今年橘科花朵盛開，引來許多蜜蜂，我閒來無事，彈落檸檬黃葉

，後來一不做二不休，震落許多不實花朵，撒滿草地，鄰居有幾

株碰柑，金黃果實，仍掛在樹上，今年冬初，我真要敲門拜訪索

橘採橘。

Recently, I am back to Japanese language study; therefore, I switch my

You Tube attention from Richard Clayderman’s piano pieces to the old

Japanese Enka and I am introducing one of them, Kokkiko, amended in

1961 for a movie of Kobayashi Akira originally by Oda Hirosi in 1941 at

Lushun, Manchuko. It was very popular among students who resided at

the dormitory of Lushun Koutougakkou. I need to explain more about the

old school system in Japan before 1945. My alma mater, Taiwan Normal

University, has been on the campus of Taihoku Koutougakkou established

in 1927. My father mentioned this institution when I passed the entrance

examination to enter Taiwan Normal and briefly about the status at that

time.

Oda was 19 when he enrolled to the school just open in 1941. He was born

In 1922; therefore, my conclusion was that he missed his application to be

a freshman at Tokyo First Koutougakkou, Ichi Ko for short which he mentioned

his sorry on the poem at paragraph 2 of the original poem. He also mentioned

the Manchuko University, Chien Kuo Daigatko, on the same sentence and of

course Lu Kou. The whole piece is very touching of his time wondering from

the imperial capital city of Tokyo and came to Manchu outside of Japanese

homeland. He did use the bitter sake, misery rain, separation of family and

friends to complete his homesick. The song was very popular at that time

with his pier. After the War, people are still singing it, of course, Kobayashi

made it famous and so do many other famous singers which I’ll name a few,

Baisho Chieko, Chiaki Naomi, Doji Yukiko, Miyoshi Eiji, Ishikawa Sayuri, etc

for the amended edition Hokikko while the original one under the performance

of Midorizaki Kasumi, the dormitory song of Lu Kou.

I was brought up by Japanese music after the War due to the vacuum of

Chinese occupation in Taiwan. I have never get into the Chinese music such

as classical Mandarin Opera or any kinds of instrument used. I believe that

the Meiji Restoration and the acceptance of the western civilization makes

the difference of Japan from China. I am interested in songs making and

the Pro-Prussian school systems. Now, in Japan is 6-3-3-4 schools like the

U.S. while before the War, 5-5-3-3 and Koutougakkou is the first 3 and the

final three is the university, Imperial University or Private University. I

believe the old British school systems are identical and I suspect the Eaton

and Rugby school are Koutougakkou. The Oxford and Cambridge were 3

years term then.

最近，恢復學習日文，聽網誌音樂，也開始從鋼琴轉到演歌，本想

請仲本先生，翻譯北歸行成英文，然後我再翻成漢文，二十年前，我

是如此，翻譯幾曲演歌，非常興奮，此曲為戰前，宇田博作曲作詞，

約是1941年，戰後1961年，小林旭以北歸行唱出名，原是舊制旅順

高等學校，愛唱學寮歌曲，小林唱後，許多日本當代藝人，均作演唱

，例如我所喜愛之歌手，倍賞千惠子，千秋直美，野路由紀子，三善

英史，石川小百合等等，均有特色，這些都是戰後再版三節，戰前版

有五節，綠吠香澄版，這吠是別字，可能是關字門內簡寫，第二節提

到建大，一高，和旅高，引起我之注意。

有中國喜愛者，作成翻譯和介紹，這建大是指長春，滿州國新京之建

國大學，建立滿州國1932年之後，這一高是指東京之第一高等學校，

旅高是指旅順高等學校，日制高校是指中學畢業後，就讀可達三年之

學校，全滿州國，僅旅順有高校，全大日本帝國，也僅十餘座，二高

在仙台，三高在京都，四高在金澤，我們台北有台北高等學校，就是

我母校台師大之前身，因此我特別注意舊日高校寮歌之收集，這些高

等學校，戰後都併入當地帝大，抑或是獨創國立大學，川端康成之伊

豆之舞孃，男主角是一高，夏目漱石在熊本教英語是七高等等，高校

畢業生，可在中學任教，已是天皇陛下命官。

所以我就下意識，喜愛此曲，又今年師大正式接受北高校，為師大前

身，因此師大從1922年開始。宇田先生，能曲也能詩，此曲應是今體

而非白話，我看有押韻，也有一三五不論，二四六分明，只可惜我日文

低於膚淺，漢學今體無涉，僅古文之傳道也。我看原文甚美，但漢譯後

，就不甚了了，然歌聲委委然，加上這些大歌唱家，真是千錘百鍊。

滿州國僅十三年，關東軍在新京有一軍校，我高中軍訓教官，張公正少

校，後來也到師大當系教官，為東北軍，該校出身，他說南韓之朴正熙

也是出身該校，一年我到加國旅行，遇見一長春少年，提及該校，少年

多聞，確定校舍仍在，只是用途殊用耳，我之先義母大人，愛新覺羅後

裔，瀋陽醫學院出身，都是滿州國之十三年，北歸行之旅高，成立四年

戰爭就結束，僅留歌曲，令人懷念。

Taiwan is still a colony of China (ROC)/Carlos Pueblo

The National status of Taiwan will be a campaign issue in 2020 of the

Presidential election. Basically, we like to think that Taiwan is an independent

nation in the world even though China think that Taiwan is a renegade province

of China, President Tsai of Taiwan thinks that Taiwan is a nation called the

Republic of China. It is very interesting. Mayor Ko of Taipei says that Taiwan is

an abnormal nation. This is what I think after my whole life understanding of

the politic. In theory, Taiwan is still a colony of a diminished China, the Republic

of China, 1911-1949. The defeated Nationalist Chinese under Chiang Kai-sek

brought his army and took exile in Taiwan and claimed as a Free China in different

from the Communist China. Taiwan’s free China is neither free nor China.

Several weeks ago, during a 228 Massacre memorial, Professor Chen of Taida

presented documents of the Nationalist Chinese Army to Taiwan to take over

Japanese 50 years occupation. She insists that is not a turn over legitimacy of

Taiwan to China but a temporary arrangement after the War. There was no

Peace Treaty settled or signed for the future of Taiwan at all. Taiwan is an

Island of 36,000 square kilometers and contained 7 million people at that time. In

the U.S., any piece of real estate transaction must be signed and formally closed

to make the title or right changed. I understand that Taiwan is a minor interest of

the U.S. and the U.S. doesn’t care whatever they have paid to defeat Japan. Chiang

took advantage of this and occupied Taiwan as a recovered land. Now, China thinks

the same way, they are the replacement of Chiang’s Nationalist China; therefore,

they are entitle to have Taiwan and if not peacefully taking over, they would use

force to conquer Taiwan.

People are asking mayor Ko if he would run for the President of Taiwan in 2020

and his answer is simple and logical that you must wait and by changing President

of Taiwan, the Republic of China, can do little to improve Taiwan. It is because that

the ROC is a bad vehicle in car accidents. His conclusion as a surgeon to analyze

the reasons of car accidents and find not to blame the drivers, in 20 years after Taiwan

have had National election of President, there are 3 Presidents elected and 15 Premiers

appointed and the general public are still not satisfied. It is the vehicle problem. In Taiwan,

you cannot amend or taught that stupid, outdated Constitution of the ROC because

Taiwan is not Taiwan and the ROC is covered at least two sovereign Nations, PRC and

Outer Mongolia. I don’t see that anything can be done anytime to improve the future of

Taiwanese National status.

However, this is what I firmly believe that if we can keep the Nationalist Chinese Party,

the KMT, out of power forever, we may have the opportunity to improve while waiting

for our bright future.

許多人追問柯文哲市長，參選2020年台灣總統之問題，他最近

舉車禍為例，駕駛和車，二因為一，若駕駛無誤，必是車有問題

，台灣三任總統，換上十八位行政院長，國民仍不滿意，車禍繼

續，是車有問題，是國家制度有問題，總統制和行政院長制，權

責混淆，而無法修正，追究其根本，就是台灣仍舊不是一獨立之

國家，空有絕頂之學校教育，絕頂之國民識字率，台灣仍舊是一

殖民地，中國之殖民地，就是兩個中國中之一，各自表述之中之

國號，中華民國之殖民地，和過去之滿清帝國殖民地一樣，五十

步與百步之別。

北京之中國，現在急著要併吞台灣，急著要將台灣納入殖民地，

共產黨曰特區，港澳特區，西藏特區，新疆特區，內蒙特區等，

就是過去之殖民地，嚴格定義，中國人民仍是中國獨裁政權之奴

隸，重來未曾被解放。台灣因有蔣介石帶來之國民黨軍，佔領台

灣，實際上是收回滿清割讓50年後之殖民地，所以台灣國號中

華民國，它之憲法，一直發生車禍，不得換新車，仍是抱殘守缺

，苟延殘喘。

賴清德前院長，主張台灣獨立，就是要給台灣人，有能力換好車

，換日本製造之優等車，只有換好車，始有安全，始能打拼工作

創下前程，我一再提醒，在換車之前，要取得駕駛權，總統要給

本土派，主張換車者小心開此壞車，小心安全，總比輪為中國統

治，當中國殖民好，國民黨中國人，忘記蔣公反共遺訓，殊甚遺

憾，台灣選民切記，莫讓國民黨中國人復辟，2018年遺憾仍在，

大選時要棄保，棄蔡英文或賴清德，來保柯文哲，擊敗國民黨人

韓國瑜，當然希望韓先擊敗朱立倫，台灣可以慢慢等，等獨立之

機會到來，當然我在美國等，但也準備回虎尾投柯兩票，愛美在

桃園投票。

Mayor of the Capital City Taipei, Professor Ko( KoP), is visiting the eastern

U.S. for the time being. There are brief political affairs occurred also in

Taiwan. Former Mayor of Tainan and also the Primer, Ching-teh Lai has

registered to the primary of the Presidency of the Democratic Progressive

Party in 2020 national election, a direct challenge to the incumbent Tsai

In-wen. We, Taiwanese, all anticipate a three way campaign in 2020, Lai,

Ko, and a representative of KMT( Nationalist Chinese Party.)

Mayor Ko’s visit in NYC has three interesting speeches which I have watched

them all on You Tube including questions and answers. He has just finished

his visit in the big apple and on his way to Washington D.C. and I don’t expect

him to be received by any of the Trump administration. Trump is on the run

and there is nothing else that his deputy can have their mind concentrated in

the international affairs. They are all facing the laws now. I hope Taiwanese

medias understand the U.S. political situation for the moment.

I don’t really know if there is any urgent need of Trump or any think tanks to

receive any party from Taiwan. The U.S. White House has entangled so much

issue from Trump himself down to most of his associates. They are either under

criminal or civil investigation by the courts or by the congress for their possible

obstruction of justice, violation of campaign finance, tax evasion, and Russian

collusion, etc. Trump is also busy in building his Long Wall and tariffs with China.

He might forget his dealing with Kim Jung-un of the North Korea. Taiwan is not

an urgent issue now. Tsai has already intended to buy 24 F-16 fighter jets from

Boeing.

I am very pleased that Ko has established his systems, mostly under SOP standard

operation procedure, to manage his city while he is on the foreign tours such as

Israel and the U.S. I am looking forward to his running for 2020 Taiwanese President

and I believe that will be a very interesting campaign in Taiwanese history.
