Chatters inside stations/Carlos Pueblo

Chatters inside stations/Carlos Pueblo
We were inside Himeji station ticket room to reserve seats back to Shin-Osaka
and following a robot’s instruction to take a number and sit for our number to
be called. I was attracted by a pretty lady sitting in front of me on the left. She
was busy reading her i-phone and managing her handbag. She wore a white
mask; therefore, I couldn’t see her face yet I could still see her appearance,
lovely hairdo, overcoat, slender figure, and high hill. Amy, on another sea,
warned me not to stare at her that long. Suddenly, a foreign family of four
entered the room. The husband took a number and took his daughter to
sit and the mother and her son were attracted by the Japanese greeting
robot in the front. The boy attempted to communicate with a question,
do you speak English? Repeated it several times and the Robot still return
his format greeting. Then, the mother said Konichiwa, good afternoon.
Then, the girl joined in asking the robot if it spoke English. The robot still
spoke in Japanese. I think that very soon, the station will provide multi-
lingual service robot and two way communication with customers.

All reserved seats were full except non-reserved trains, the first to the third
trains in the front. The staff recommended us go to the platform early and
wait on the que to get on first after some came off which made sense. On
the next after, we were in the same situation at Hiroshima station. There
were no seat and robot except the traditional way. Suddenly, I saw a counter
on the far right with a sign for JR Pass customers and that’s us. An English
spoken lady staff was outside the counter and approached to us, asked our
destination and another staff inside the counter quickly checking the computer
and found nothing available. She advised us to try the non-reserved train and
also recommended us to take one after the immediate next train because the
second one stopped fewer stations and actually would arrive early. On our way
back, I did see Fukuyama Castle, a station that we passed without a stop.

There are shopping center inside every station and many stories to tell that
reflect the good manners and service of Japanese people. We located a drug
store inside a big store like Walgreen type. When I mentioned Kasei, the cold,
the clerk brought us to a row and soon a specialist followed to point out the
suitable one on the counter.

I helped Amy to get desserts, sweet rice ball with red bean paste inside. When
I asked where I could get a bottle of sake. The elder sent her young assistant to
take us to a nearby supermarket and we learned how to get a lunch box of
sashimi or sushi for a reasonable price.

Wine party at Hyatt Regency Osaka/Carlos Pueblo

Wine party at Hyatt Regency Osaka/Carlos Pueblo

The hotel invited us for a monthly wine party on the last day of our stay and I
knew that we could skip our dinner. It was held on the top of building with a
view of the night city on two sides. We were greeted by the general manager
with a middle name Von, which mean from or de in Spanish instead of my
original understanding of a German nobility ancestor. He is a German speaking
Swiss and has been in Osaka for 3 years. I asked him the reason why the hotel
was here. He said that was a re-claim property from the bubble economy in
the 80’s. It’s full now even IBM has a high raise office here.

Small plates of food were presented and there were managers and waiters
came around to keep conversation with guests and serve wine. I felt very happy
to enjoy this high end of my life. Most of the guests were young and I guessed
that they were in business trip. Our neighbor seat guests were from Hong Kong.

I did feel very sorry for myself for that I wear too casual for the party. I do have
many of my suits of the old day when I was in business; however, I keep my
luggage to the minimum size for all travel. There is no way that I can match my
appear with such a wonderful hotel like this one.

Visiting Osaka Castle Park/Carlos Pueblo

Visiting Osaka Castle Park/Carlos Pueblo

I have been in Osaka once, yet I have missed Osaka Castle. I was mistaken that
the Castle was destroyed when Tokugawa Ieyasu bombarded it in 1605 from
several pieces of movies. Toyotomi Hideyoshi built Fushimi Castle of Kyoto
according to his boss Oda Nobunaga’s Azuchi Castle and both were destroyed;
therefore, he built Osaka Castle following the same design and had been destroyed
twice until the city rebuilt it in 1958 with the original design on top of the same site.
On top of the Tenshukaku, the main building, there are golden tiger designs which
is very unique and impressive like a ruler’s palace. We went to visit a lovely blooming
plum  grove on the way to the Castle and another lovely blooming peach grove when
we exit from the Castle back to the JR Station.

I must admit that it is the first time that I see Japanese plum and peach blossom,
first at Kokoen Garden at Himeji and here at the groves. Both are different from
what I have had in Texas, Florida peach and Texas plum at home yard. Japanese
flowers are thicker in petals, maybe more than 10 each or more. There are at least
four kinds of colors on the grove, red, white, pink, and mixed colors in one tree. I ran
into the beginning of the season blooming at the end of winter yet was raining instead
of snowing otherwise would be amazing scenery.

There were crowded visitors at the Castle. The rain briefly stopped and we went into
the Castle following to the que up and down. It shows most of Toyotomi’s collection
and several illustration of that period, Sengoku waring state. He was the one success
to Oda Nobunaga and died without a mature son to succeed him and lost to Tokugawa
and eventually became Edo era 260 plus years. On the top of the building, there is an
observation post circle around the building to view the city and more.

A pretty girl from Amsterdam helped us to locate the station and we walked along the
park and discussed our travelling experience. I learned something about more budget
travelling. Her way is reaching Japan and utilizing the local train system and repeat it
often that I instantly agree with her. I shall do it that way on my next trip to the coastal
line of the sea of Japan because that there is not much of high speed rail available. While
she walked away toward a subway station, we walked into the peach grove of the Castle
Park. I insisted to see the blooming peach flowers under the cold rain. I admitted again
that I was not sophisticated enough to distinguish the difference between Japanese
plum from Japanese peach based on flower yet I had had a wonderful time.

。

Re-visiting Hiroshima 2018/Carlos Pueblo

Re-visiting Hiroshima 2018/Carlos Pueblo

Hiroshima was one city that Amy mentioned to visit and I panned the visit due
to the reason of nearby Osaka. We took the train and ran into a group of
Taiwanese visitors mostly ladies of 29 visiting Okayama. It was very nice to hear
our native tongue in Japan. We had a very enjoyable conversation to exchange
travelling experience. This lady from Tainan, not far from my hometown, is an
experience traveler, Europe, Polar light in Canada, and South America, etc. I
admitted that I missed it while we approached Reykjavik, Iceland on a cruise
across the North Atalantic. I indicated the adventure of Japanese Peach Boy,
Momotaro San Japanese nursery rhyme and legend, was really from Okayama
where I visited in 2016. There is a beautiful rebuilt black castle and garden in
that lovely city. I took a train across the inland sea to Takamatsu attempted to
visit Marukami, the original noodle restaurant’s hometown in Shikoku. It was
heavy raining when we arrived Hiroshima, yet we stilled accomplished to visit
two scenery points of the city, the World Memorial Pease Park and the famous
rebuilt Hiroshima Castle.

Thanks to JR Pass to arrange a shuttle service to the Peace Park to avoid rain. We
saw the remaining of the dome building of the original agricultural office of the
prefecture after the explosion. Now, it is a beautiful park full of flowering trees,
camellia, plum, and cherry, etc. on an island between a split Honkawa river and
beyond. My last visit was in the fall and I ran into maple color change foliage and
this time was spring blossom. I took many photos of camellia and reminded me
a hit song by Kobayashi Sachiko Yukitsubaki, snowing camellia. There are two
small plant at our front door which are much smaller than most of Japanese. The
colors of those tree flowers can be red, white, yellow, and mixed split and amazing.

We took the shuttle back to the train station and took another one to the Castle.
While we were waiting, we ran into a sudden gathering of a local high school
baseball team to take off for a playoff for the national championship. The original
Castle was total destroyed during the atomic bombing and the city re-built it and
turned to a museum. There were many visitors even in a raining day like this. I
had had a hard time to find the Nijijo, a rebuilt sub-castle on site previous for
the administration of the Local Lord and now a small no fee museum. I visited this
place on my last visit and developed a very interesting learning of Japanese history.
A well learned staff, a senior gentleman, discussed the local lord to me in Kanji note.
He pointed it out that the huge Taiwanese False Cypress pillars in the front gate were
from Taiwan. The front court yard were full of cherry blossom and boats service
touring around the castle was available.
