左眼復明/莊峻華

昨日晚餐，睜左眼閉右眼，再睜右眼閉左眼，發現兩眼視力，已經

接近，左眼已經復明，就是四週功夫，當然，我仍需要等候，左眼

內之置放小氣泡，自動消失，然後再由第一位手術眼醫，將左眼手

術縫針拆線。兩眼將來仍舊需要老花眼鏡，生活方式需要改變，過

去左眼近視，偶而無眼鏡，左右眼尚可互補，如今閱讀則馬上需要

老花眼鏡，有天醫生說一切恢復正常，卻由臨走補一句，要讓我戴

眼鏡，我正百思不解？恢復正常，兩眼視力莫非均20？何需眼鏡？

原來是老花眼。

舊眼鏡有度數，右眼是老花與平光，左眼是老花和近視，眼鏡師將

兩種鏡片上下合併，上端近視，下端老花，近代高科技發達，早已

看不出兩片，所以我暫時使用舊眼鏡，平常外出室外，都是平光墨

鏡，如果散步，則口袋再帶一袖珍老花眼鏡，此小筆筒大眼鏡，老

花度數較淺，讀細字不易，聽西語老師曰，老花度數僅兩種，所以

買兩支老花鏡，一支十元美金即可看書寫字。

五十年前剛有近視，心情緊張，戴眼鏡像是天下末日，後來台灣近

視者眾，女生漸漸隱形眼鏡，然後有雷射眼睛，我戴眼鏡超過半世

紀，一時真是無法取代之習慣，有一陣，有某地，有人就叫我眼鏡

別號，如今我有一個月，獨眼龍生活，正想到江戶初期獨眼大俠，

柳生十兵衛，現在左眼復明，連今年報所得稅，都無盲目優待。

I am getting better and better to view the world political affair, of course,

It is based on my personal opinion. Yesterday, Hillary Clinton declared that

She would tackle the high rise drug price and the NASDAQ went down sharply

because of the bio-tech sector of the index.  How much Hillary weight in the

stock market? The speculator will tell you. Today, Wall Street reports a little

bit more in details about how she will regulate the portion of bio-tech company’s

profit should be contributed to the research and some other profit explanation

on the company’s report in order to curve unreasonable profit which is built on

to the insurance premium. I don’t know very much about this yet it looks good to

me as a consumer.

Let us watch Angela Merkel, the prime minister of Germany. She just have handled

the Greek hot potato and then guess what? The refugee erupted in Europe. She

talks fellow German speaking Austria into alliance to accept the refugee of 180

thousand based on humanity. The whole world has realized the problem of Syria.

How many refugee in total during these 4 years of Syria civil war? This is a worldwide

Problem, not only for Syria. When Russian invaded Ukraine and forced the Ukraine

In turmoil, she went to Moscow and warned Putin in Russian to back off. The news did

not indicate what kind of language was in the meeting and it was my guess. She is

a Ph.D. in quantum physics and fluent in Russian. Putin and Russian all remember well

that do not agitate German. Soon afterward, the whole world open up for help, Obama

administration provides cash and 10 thousand refugee quota. I think that the critical

nations should consider hiring pasha of Ottoman Empire era to manage their countries.

Japan under Sinzo Abe, the prime minister, is going to extend her national defense

power. This is what I believe that Japan is not only argue with China on a small island

sea of oil field but also the loss of 4 islands north of Hokkaido to Russia after WWII.

I like Japan very much for her samurai movies, Enka songs, and old Hollywood war

movies etc. Japanese warriors are good at war and it is not nice to see them back to

old army control era. Japanese are smart this time to have alliance with the only one

nation which has defeated them badly in her history, the U.S. One of my college alumni

went to visit japan in the 80’s and told me how impressed he was for her people and

worried very much one day Japanese would give one more hard time to China.

I check on Taiwanese political news through a internet newspaper almost any time on

line. Taiwan will have a big change early next year, as a matter of fact, Taiwan is

changing now at this moment in a fantastical pace. I like the new mayor of the capital

city Taipei. Dr. and professor Wen Jer ke will lead Taipei and Taiwan to a new era.

我看世界政局，是越來越得心應手矣，今日，西拉蕊‧克林頓在她私

人發表文章中，指出藥物價昂貴，她上任後當位處理，紐約股市，馬

上反應，那斯達克指數，從昇到跌，因為指數中，有生物高科技，西

拉蕊有無份量？這是政治常識，共和黨總統候選人十多位，從來無人

提到如此問題，這是健康保險問題，是國民負擔問題，是美國歐洲醫

藥成本之問題，西拉蕊在她夫婿任命下，主導一全民健保之規劃工作，

同一批人才，八年後，陰錯陽差，造成歐巴瑪健保法，我說是德政。

德國的梅克爾總理，是位量子物理博士，而且能言俄羅斯語，剛處理

希臘財政危機一段落，美國只在旁觀看，她同意美國財長之判斷，要

救歐元，馬上又遇到敘利亞難民，難民在敘利亞，顛沛流離，四處奔跑

，土耳其，黎巴嫩等國，不堪負荷，輾轉逃到匈牙利，像梅克爾時代之

東德人，準備從布達佩斯，坐火車逃到德國英國求生，歐洲全球，正在

不知所措，梅克爾立刻尋找德語奧地利國，聲明兩國將接授全部難民，

世界政府跟進，歐巴瑪政府，目前經過多時評估後，從默默無語，到一

萬名額，今日增加到十萬名額，共和黨人已經為非法移民，厭惡不堪，

基督徒人道信仰，只限於自由派，不包括保守派，我以為這些問題國家，

應該考慮，是否邀請梅克爾之德國人才，來當該國行政官員主政？當年

奧圖曼帝國，也是各國徵才。

日本開始要恢護武力 ，要雪恥復國，尖閣島和北方四島，準備先要和中

國對幹，然後就是俄羅斯，我很喜歡日本，喜歡日本演歌，喜歡德川時代

之武士影片，甚至好來塢之太平洋戰爭影片，日本人很會打仗，我的一位

大學同期朋友，是中國人，八十年代旅行日本，印像深刻，日本人之守法

精神，他說一旦有野心政治者，操弄國政，真是不堪想像，而且現在又跟

美國連手共防，連舊軍艦都送給越南，越南曾擊敗當今中國人民解放軍。

每天無時無刻，我都在查閱台灣政情，好不容易等到台北市議會，第二議

會質詢，要看這些議員們，和柯市長較量，柯越來越熟練市政，全國地方

執政首長，都在觀看其動靜，最近市政忙碌，鮮見有其哲學觀，像生死智

慧，一坨大便說等，台灣人這次選舉，真的要結束國民黨蔣家餘孽之統治，

1949年中國共產黨人武力驅逐蔣，2016年台灣民進黨人，選票終結蔣家餘

孽馬和國民黨統治。

It is very difficult to buy fresh bamboo shoots of any kinds in Houston

supermarket; however, the other day, I did have a bag of salad use

bamboo shoot for  $3 for a leg bone bamboo shoot soup, one of my

favorite. A small bag of leg bone for $1.10  a pound. What I do with the

cooking is very simple Taiwanese way much simpler than treat the pork

kidney as I have described before. Hot pan to have a flavor of green onion

and ginger root, then place the bone into the hot pan to cover the odor

and boil the pot with slice bamboo shoot for more than an hour. Add

salt and hondashi  up to your own taste. Hondashi is a Japanese ingredient

of dry fish of bonito.

This shop is very common bawl of Taiwanese food stand for commoners

such as people without a kitchen at home. There is  a big portion of

Taiwanese population practice such eatery every day and it is very common

for a family dining menu during bamboo shoot season. I have had a good

memory of such experience  while residing in Taipei, Taiwan as a student.

We call this kind of eating at a food stand as a meal of a Lo Han, a kind of

Buddhist monk. Buddhist monk Lo Han must beg food down to the street

to be survived for his self- discipline in order to reach nevarna, an external

paradise. My late mother always teases me that I like to eat as a Lo Han

foot and not prefer to eat at home.

After these years in Houston, I really miss Bamboo shoot soup. I have been

back to Huwei, Taiwan many times looking for the soup. My host family

have attempted to buy the fresh bamboo shoot without any success, instead

I do have some other favorite soups, such as various kinds of fish head. I must

admit it most of the fault is on myself due to my vegan diet.

大骨竹筍湯/莊峻華

前日從診所返家，途中經過大華超市，買到一包綠竹筍，這是煮熟

真空包裝袋，是供沙拉食用，休市難遇竹筍，就是回虎尾，也碰不

上季節，所以我就慘慘豬肝切一兩，買下一包綠竹筍，美金三元，

和一小盒大骨，一磅美金一點一元，我忘記一小盒幾磅重，這是豬

腿骨，腿肉剔除後，美國人不用，幾近廢物拋棄。我的食慾不好，

大古竹筍湯，可以暫時解除危機。

準備好一大陳種笨鍋，我的爆香薑蔥，大骨頭投入，翻炒一兩分鐘，

油煙機發揮作用，然後加入我的逆滲透純水，蓋平豬骨頭，高溫沸騰

，薑蔥爆骨，這是火侯除腥，有人教過我，高溫沸騰，就是燉，沸水

燉成高湯，英語說是底湯，竹筍是蔬菜之一，我們台灣家庭，常見蘿

蔔和山東白，我覺得竹筍，比較稀罕。將包內綠竹筍，切片投入鍋，

煮沸後就慢火熬煉，加入鹽和烹大師，這是鰹魚粉，我想就是柴魚，

日本人講究健康，避免使用味精，這就是大骨竹筍湯，我們台灣人家

庭，過節拜拜神明，有此道湯，這是生筍湯，也有筍乾當材料。

小時後，我們住埔里，埔里是山城，許多鮮筍，我最喜歡大骨筍湯，

當年父親當糖廠小主管，小孩雖眾，尚未就學交費，負擔較輕，食物

較為豐富。高中後，在台北讀書，有時候需要，羅漢腳食，就是路邊

攤購買三餐，台灣攤就有大骨竹筍，但都是一大鍋，而且稀釋多次，

但仍舊是吃得，津津有味。

我們家元兒，小時後就是，排骨湯細肉麥片等材料，製造之幼兒食物，

所以和我一樣，喜歡喝湯。我把第一鍋湯，喝下一半，又加上一些純

水煮沸多次，又喝一半，翌日早餐，大骨皮肉已經爛熟，我一口氣喝

盡殘餘，又交待愛美外出買菜，帶回一套。

I have been recuperating my left eye’s vision recovery ever since two

cataract procedures in late August. I see the vision improved gradually

; however, it is still risky to make an air travel as my doctor advise not to.

There is a bubble which he has placed in my eye to stabilize the retina.

I guess that the high attitude is going to affect my bubble in the left eye,

It may burst then cause blindness. I have better be patient and holding

off my original plan to fly to Europe this month and take a cruise back to

Houston in late October. During this period, every day I watch movies,

listen to Japanese Enka songs, read internet news, and write my blog in

both Chinese and English.

Due to my progress, Dr. Kopel does not need to see me every week.

He will send me back to the first eye doctor to remove the stitches after

my bubble is gone. Yesterday, I found out that my left eye vision closed

to normal. In classical Chinese idiom, a skilled physician to return a patient’s

health, to describe a patient’s appreciation. Almost 4 weeks ago, I felt

blind on my left eye after my fist procedure.

I am not allowed to drive car either, even with two eyes in function, I still

have had incident recently. I do walk two miles every morning to be out of

the house every day and water my 6 vegetable pots. I do some easy cooking

for my favorite soups, pork kidney and bamboo shoot. I see something are

coming out from three of the seeds bed which I guess are tomatoes. I shall

prepare some mixture of house manure and grass mulch when I am better

for the transfer plants.

When I run into a new hesitate dog in my morning walk, I instantly remove

my shade and straw hat to avoid his shyness towards me. This is my experience

knowledge from some dog owners because their dogs usually very friendly yet

not use to a stranger with dark shade or wear a hat. Of course I explain my

two cataract procedures  and they still can see the redness of the left. I become

very good of describing my difficulty and the procedures.

一週前醫生說，眼睛尚未痊癒，不能搭乘飛機，我猜是左眼中，有

他置放之小泡球，為固定視網膜，我之左眼白內障開刀失敗，第二

位眼醫急救，第二次手術，據他估計，需要六週，六週就是下月中

旬，如果順利，我還可以趕上船，越過大西洋回休市。養眼疾期間，

每天都看電影，聽幾首日本演歌，網路新聞，還有不斷作文。

左眼復元順利，視力漸漸增近，醫生檢查，從每週一次，改成兩週

一次，每天我都生活規律，早起早睡，早上散步社區，拜訪愛犬朋

友，分析股市，看看台灣美國大選，偶而造訪峻嚴，聽聽他之哲學，

網路上查閱部落格，或是閱讀鄉迅，孤芳自賞好幾遍。

 三盆菜苗，已有冒出新芽，我仍舊繼續澆水，天氣又開始回熱如昔，

我正準備一旦可以開車，再去糖市馬場拾糞，我準備三袋草削攪和，

以供菜圃花園，堆肥過冬。

中國人稱讚醫生，說是妙手回春，真是我感謝這第二位眼科醫生，

他的敬業精神，難怪診所，座無虛席，病患是應接不暇，第一次手

術失敗後，第一位醫生，立即安排翌日門診，就是棒球局中之，更

換投手，我的左眼，像是蒙上一層塑膠布，而且眼皮，無法起閉，

眼圈腫漲，我頓實有失明之憂慮，我擔心是否眼睛有損壞？眼睛中

有一片，像鼻涕一般之物體，他說就是自然鏡片之殘留碎片，因怕

此碎片跑到眼球內部，所以需要馬上再手術，就是把人工鏡片取出，

使用特殊儀器，包括雷射，清除碎片，置放小氣泡，穩定視網膜，白

內障手術，是眼科醫生之初級班，這第二次手術，已經是高級班，

這完全是左右眼，和手術病患年紀有關，我右眼15年前，在初級班

就，順利成功，到現在都是視力20。

新遇愛犬，我連忙取下墨鏡和草貌，以示親切平常，剛才下樓，步出

後院，左眼視力，更加改進，不僅比手術前之無近視眼鏡視力，而且逼近

有近視眼鏡之左眼視力，妙手回春，真是指日可待。
