Returning to visit Tauranga, New Zealand 2019/Carlos Pueblo

Returning to visit Tauranga, New Zealand 2019/Carlos Pueblo

It was still fresh for me to return the visit of Tauranga Bay. I took it as a nice routine hiking for the trip toward the hill top on the fist of the arm shape of the city. I walked on the same path, the Mall Street along the beach on one side and back to the Marine Parade on the other side of the beach with about 4 hours total on the march. The two missionary were still working on the side green of the path and we had had a nice chat yet no more bible study. On the way up, I ran into a retired music professor form our Mexican border city Laredo, Texas and directed her to select the ladder path instead of the service route. On the top, she ran into some other passengers from the ship and got the information about the White Island Volcano on a direction of a long strip island and the smoke was still up slowly. We were departed when we reached a street corner on the Marine Parade, I chose to go back to the ship and she continued to visit some other scenery.

I enjoy very much on a cruise trip. Usually, I get up early to have my breakfast, usually better than at home. I shall have an omelet and oat meal at the O'Sheenhan's on deck 8, the I shall go up to deck 12 Garden Cafe for some fruits, some watermelon, pineapple, apple, honeydew, and cantaloupe, etc. I don't have that many to choose at home. Then, I shall get myself ready for the disembark and doing my daily march. At home, I walk 2.2 miles in the morning.

After returning to the ship, I shall stop by the O'Sheenan's for two scoop of ice cream to make up my lost of sugar on marching while I am not allowed at home. I'll have my lunch afterward and a long nap following up. Usually, I'll swing some golf at a golf simulator on deck 13 outside. I am getting better and better after that old professional teaching me how to stand and bend my knees and swing.

The dinner is coming very early every day. Usually, I select the second restaurant on the mid ship on deck 6. I can get closed to my daughters. It is also provided to me an opportunity to make friends with fellow passengers. I usually go to the piano on the atrium on deck 7 or the Magnum's by the Le Bistro Restaurant on deck 6. I'll come back to the OSheenan's to chat with the hostess daughter and manager.

I have my way to measure the cost of a cruise including the airfare and my conclusion is that cruise trip is more economic that a land trip after all.

Visiting the campus of Hong Kong University 2020/Carlos Pueblo Hong Kong University has been established since 1911 is one of the famous and prestige universities in Asia. I am so glad to have a day of visit the campus out of my three nights stay in the city. The University has also been back track to the Hong Kong School of Medicine for Chinese which one time Sun Yat-sen attended. It was established in 1887 while Hong Kong was ceded to the British Empire due to the loss of the Opium War in 1840. Eugenia told me due to that fact, HKU took Sun as an alumus. There is a small garden and a statue of Sun in the campus. We took a light rail green line from Won Chu Hang to Admiralty station to change to the blue line to the University. As a matter of fact, we did pass the campus wall on our way to the Stanley Bay a day before. We walked across a covered pedestrain bridge to the entrance. It was a school opening day yet cancelled due to the out break of the Wuhan Cornonavirus. We can see several buildings under the benefaction of the Shaw's Brothers, Run Run and Runmei Shaw Brothers Ltd., the films producer famous for the Kung Fu and some other kinds of movies in Hong Kong and Singapore. There is also another Hong Kong Chinese University, the second public insititution in Hong Kong and also famous. I was wondering around the buildings and found the student center on the first floor in a significant location. I read all the postal left from the out break of the pro-democracy movement or the Anti-Extradition Amentment Bill Movement which created a huge attention of the world. The postal clearly are advocated their desire of the Hong Kong Independent which is a taboo according to the authoritarian regime in Beijing, China. I fully understand the situation in Hong Kong that people feel no way out like the people in China now under the rule of Chinese Communists. We went back to the small noodle restaurant at the Causeway Bay for lunch. It was the afternoon to pack our luggage for our cruise on the next day to Vietnamese Coast.

Sailing back to Sydney, Australia 2019/Carlos Pueblo

Sailing back to Sydney, Australia 2019/Carlos Pueblo

After Auckland, New Zealand, the cruise ship was turn back to the original route back to Sydney, Australia, I called it the second back of my back to back trip. Some of passengers like me as the back to back, most of them were new passengers embark from Auckland, and some of crew members from their vacation. I expected Jingle, my beloved daughter who informed me of her schedule yet everyone on the ship told me that Mary Ann missed the airplane due to the visa issue, and I saw Aileen, the Maitre D'hotel, who lead the group back from Manila.

Aileen was transferred from the Tsar's Palace in charge at night to the Azura, the second restaurant in charge. We were very happy to see each other again. I asked her to come to meet my fellow Taiwanese passengers and introduce her to them. These were a group from Kaoshiung, Taiwan. She told them that she had been to Kaoshiung on this ship and loved the street eatery very much. She copied down their room numbers and sent them each chocolate candies. One day one of the ladies on the deck 14 observation station thanked me for her candies which made them feel so important. I could only admit that was her talent of the public relationship and good at doing business. She is a very beautiful lady with leadership. I have had many daughters on the ships all over the world and they all know each other.

Jingle is one of a few daughters still keep correspondence with me. She was transferred from Dawn to Jewel with a group of crew members as their restaurant manager, Nigiel as the leader. He is my son-in-law and very friendly to me. His wife Jenny works inside the atrium office as the group service manager is one of my most favorite daughters. Jingle was assigned to Azura and helped to select my menu. I have been following her approaching 10 cruises from Dawn to Jewel, a very special daughter. She is a senior waitress.

Mary Ann is another pretty waitress and has been with Dawn. Due to her visa delay, she was aboard in Wellington three days later. She was therefore assigned a waitress in floating assignment at Azura. There are many restaurants on the ship and all restaurant staff must come to help the Garden Cafe cafeteria during the day and go back to their designated home restaurant in the evening. The restaurant manager will move some waiter or waitress to rescue the busier restaurants from time to time. They are all very busy and I have to find the opportunity to chat with them.

Another important matter during my cruise trip is to invite daughters to dine with me at two fee restaurants like the steak house, French restaurant, and Italian restaurant. First I must have my invitation accepted, then an approval from the restaurant manager. It is because that I have had a privilege to have two vouchers to dine at four restaurants with a companion. You can imagine how happy I have been to dine with some most beautiful young ladies. It is certainly the best of my life.

Second day in Hong Kong/Carlos Pueblo

Second day in Hong Kong/Carlos Pueblo

Eugenia came to the hotel to pick up for a tour on our second day in Hong Kong. I knew her in Frankfurt, Germany while both of us were on our tours in Europe. She said that we were at the Aberdeen area; therefore, she had a plan to take us to visit Stanley, had a lunch at the Causeway Bay area, drinking coffee for the entire afternoon with a life music performance, and finally at a famous roast goose restaurant for our dinner.

We took a train to the Central and transferred to a bus passing through a tunnel and at the high rises of the city and the high wall like campus of the Hong Kong University, her alma mater. As a matter of fact, the alumni Association has listed Dr. Sun Yat-sen as one of them due to his attending of the old Hong Kong College of Medicine, the forerunner of the University. I showed my interest to visit the campus of this famous University. Stanley is a small bay and the British Authority built a pier for their vessels named a Governor-General Blake as its name, I read the words on a stone monument. The old Governor-General building was moved to the front of the pier nicely. Also nearby is the popular Sea Goddess Temple and the famous Guanying Bodhisattva statue is on the hill which is very famous for the scenery on movies in Hong Kong. She did mention that there were a big resistance in Hong Kong during Japanese invasion during the War and Stanley was the last beach head. I tried to show my well informed character, I asked if it was the Gurkha army. She knocked her head and took us to visit the Military Cemetery on another hill where we could see the overall scenery of Hong Kong, the bay, the high rises, and the mountains, etc. We continued to pass the old residential area of small plan houses with small yards for growing vegetable and flowers. We came to the original post office building, still in function, to catch on a bus to a noodle house at Causeway Bay section of downtown, of course everywhere in the city is like a downtown. It is a small Teochew eatery yet crowded with customers. I ordered two bowls, one fish rice noodle and one plan seaweed soup and both ladies ordered beef meet balls noodle for lunch. There were delicious. Amy and I went back again on the third day in the city.

We took a bus again to a coffee and bar restaurant across the Island. I forgot the name yet she told me that was closed to the original place to raise geese for the restaurant to have them roasted. We had listened two sections of performance of Jazz music. Finally, I requested three popular hits and they agreed to play one of them, What's up? It was excellent.

She took us to another roast goose restaurant to wait on long line to get in and I regret very much that I was not alert enough to notice that she was allergy to both the goose and the duck due to her shoulder's pain according to Chinese herb medicine advice to avoid eating them.
