Han Kuang Exercise in Taiwan 2018/Carlos Pueblo

In order to prepare Chinese invasion of Taiwan, the defense force of Taiwan holds

regular annual Han Kuang Exercise recently. I watch some Youtube document videos

which show fighter jets taking off, life fire of tanks and cannons, rockets and missiles

fire, and paratroopers landing, etc. At least that I am aware of two accidents and

casualties, one paratrooper and a fighter jet pilot, military exercise is like a real

battle. It may be very difficult to fend off Chinese aggression; however, if the Chinese

Communist regime decides to attack Taiwan, it must be for the Chinese to topple such

regime as a result, i.e. dynasties change in Chinese history time after time.

I have been very concerned with the intensify of Chinese aggression to Taiwan recently

such as military exercise on offshore Fuchien and bomber jets circling around Taiwan.

One of these days, a fight between Taiwan and China may eventually be occurred and

we must be ready to defense ourselves to prevent us from slavery. I was in Taiwanese

army to station at the frontier of Lei-yu Island from 1971 to 1973. At that time, we

held only marching drills on the coastal line either in the evening or after mid-night twice

in a month to train our physical strength only. We were poorly equipped in compare with

Han Kuang Exercise units which are the most advanced and the best of Taiwan.

After watching the U.S. involvement of Iraq, I understand the fundamental weaponry such

as infantry fire arms and transportation, etc. are also very important to our defense

capability in case of resisting aggressors; therefore, we must build on the currently existed

reserved system units for any civil defense.

We must stop the corruption of all level of government such as the recent scandal of the

Naval procurement of more than U.S.$ 700 million. Taiwanese security system even allows

the suspect to escape. This Chinese Nationalist technique of corruption occurred in Taiwan

all the time and nobody has a way to enforce the rule of law. It is why I insist that don’t let

the Kuomington KMT Party, the Chinese Nationalist, regain power in Taiwan in every level

government, central and local. Then, we can expect to establish a real nation of the rule

and law.

I must show my admiration of the lady President Tsai Eng-wen for her effort of the national

Defense. Han Kuang Exercise this year is much broader the previous years and I appreciate

her determination.

最近，谷歌網誌上，開始張貼台灣之漢光實彈軍演，在這風雨飄搖之際，台

灣軍演，足以顯示台灣之決心和實力，中國夢想武力犯台，真需三思，當然

，演習如作戰，已經有傷亡，軍機墬山，但陸海空三軍，都有精彩之演練，

也讓我見識台灣之作戰能力，要感謝蔡英文總統之國防努力，我的結論是，

一旦中國攻打台灣，台灣作強硬抵抗，必引爆中國內亂，習進平必被推翻。

陸軍實彈射擊很好看，有在台灣北部之火砲實射，坦克壓境，傘兵空降，正

式操兵前，已有一傘兵因傘故障陣亡，南部天弓飛彈實射等，金門也操兵，

軍士官都口操台灣國語，我更相信必要時，台灣國軍不理會中華民國之國防

部長，不保衛台獨論者之謬論。

海軍看到各式戰艦，駛出軍港，台灣海軍軍譽，受到長期中國清國海軍腐敗

之影響，不知真正戰力如何？最近一海軍弊案，約七億餘美金，首疑犯順利

潛逃，過去之尹清風拉法葉弊案等，都在中國國民黨中國人執政63年發生，

我之結論是，莫讓中國國民黨中國人復辟，台灣始有救。

我看到清泉崗上空，有軍機穿空飛行，約是經國號戰機，莫言經國號型，僅

作訓練用，一旦買到新型戰機，新機駕駛有所本。

台灣國防，需要多方面努力，我甚感激執政黨和蔡總統，不坐以待斃，腳踏

實地，整飭國防，鞏固國家安全。

There is an old vehicle, 1998 Q45, at home and my son Arthur is driving it to work.

Recently, there is a sign of a starter issue, a new one cost about $700 to replace

and the value of the vehicle is about $1000. This is after a $3000 plus replacement

of an axial and alternator and fan belts, etc. in the last half year. He works night

shift job at a super market and can’t drive a new vehicle due to safety like people

bump to parking vehicle; therefore, he is not complaining for driving the old vehicle

passing on him at the house. His previous 2003 Accord was flooded in 2016 after a

couple thousands repairing expenditure. This is what I mean the frustration to keep

an old vehicle, yet we must drive cars to be convenient in Houston, Texas. How do I

solve the vehicle issue?

I asks my daughter Michelle to return 2007 Camry, a 2^nd gift vehicles for her college

graduation, back to her brother and she refuses with several reasons. First, the vehicle

is in excellent condition; 2^nd, new vehicle costs too much and she doesn’t have a safe

garage at her home in Austin, Texas; 3^rd, she drives only three days in a week and during

the week days, her company provides the costs of transportation. Luckily, she feels sorry

that I have to pay the cost of a new vehicle each time in need. We understand and very

pleased that she has the frugality and manage her finance very well.

A day before yesterday, Amy proposed an idea that we split three ways to pay a new

vehicle, Amy, Michelle, and myself. We’ll purchase a new vehicle on Thursday morning

and Michelle drives her mother’s 2013 Maxima back to Austin. It’s an brilliant solution

and satisfy all parties, Amy will drive the new vehicle, Michelle will get an used vehicle

earlier than her anticipation, Arthur gets 2007 Camry more reliable than the 98 Q45, and

I’ll keep or sell the Q45 for my occasional usage.

It’s very interesting for me now at an old age of my life. I think of maintaining a frugal

life style by not drive and spend my entire day at my library to use internet to post my

writing about my life and that’s it. However, I still can’t leave myself alone to face the

daily issue like the old vehicle issue, yard work, and the regular expanse such as all kinds

of bills plus travelling etc. It’s a meaningful life.

家有20年舊車，為元兒上班工具，一日清晨網球局，突然不能起火，辛好

攔下球友幫忙，插電起動，回家後，立即電話投訴美國汽車協會，協會派專

人，前來診斷其剛換置電池，手提電腦查出啟動器毛病，修車行曰七百美元

費用，真是舊車遲疑，我已經為此煩惱多時矣，美國居無車大不易，遲疑者

何？新車貴，舊車維護貴，還有保險貴，我是位好家長，答應子女，大學畢

業，贈送一新座車，最近三輛新車購買，都是藉此名意，我也心安理得，但

是，每換新舊車，均需遲疑，下大決心。

元兒在超市上夜班，不敢開新車，所以均開家中舊車，一輛接一輛，他也無

怨言，我之新車贈送，也一直未為完成。如今，座車老舊，開始修理費腦人

，我開始打如意算盤，擬調回琳兒座車，讓她自購新車，結果她也精算，因

她週日外出各地工作，僅三日回家用車，而且座車停泊前院，新車不宜，於

是我又建議，我們購買新車，讓愛美之五年日產舊車，換其12年豐田舊車，

我們也到車行，查看新車價目，範圍是三萬美元左右，運用其公司之職員福

利。翌日，我就後悔，蓋此三萬，著實是一筆數目，我還是乖乖之付修車費

，留下三萬元股票，繼續作戰。

昨日起動器有恙，又遷動家庭顧慮，愛美提出解決辦法，就是我們三人，各

出一萬，愛美開新車，其日產調到奧斯汀，奧斯汀之豐田，調回家給元兒，

我又繼續遲疑，她們均曰，讓我考慮幾日，不到幾小時，我就同意，下週琳

兒回奧斯汀前，就買下新車，讓她開日產回去，留下豐田，甚麼新車，這幾

天決定。

我還是需要修理起動器，但不是馬上，我將留下此舊車當備用，平常來回球

塲用，然後就是面對12年豐田之日後危機。我發現我的一生，真是幸福，自

從離開台灣後，真是日漸不為金錢所逼迫。

Heinosuke Gosho directed Utage 1967, means banquet in Kanji originally; however,

It’s a love story under a military uprising in 1936, a year before the famous Marco

Polo Bridge near Peking broke out. I like the movie because that refreshes my old

memory of historical events old and new. The rebellion was the capital area. I just

came back from Tokyo and a visit of the Kita No Maru, the old garrison of the Palace

nearby. The mutineers didn’t pass the garrison and entered the Palace before the

army stepped in. A girl admired and loved one of the mutineer, a young Lieutenant,

and the movie is about her and a description of the background of that time.

She got to know him due to his older brother was a classmate of him at the Army

Academy. Her brother dropped out of the academy and engaged in the left wing

activity. One day, her brother asked her to deliver a letter and a book to this old

classmate who was just returned to his hometown at a coastal village of the Sea

of Japan. His unit was ready to be sent to Manchuria. He was a right wing nationalist

in the army who was not interested in advanced study at the War College in order

to wait in rank and file of his career. His unsatisfied right wing group eventually was

forced to take action against the incumbent military establishment in the cabinet.

The incident of February 26, 1936 was lasted only three days. The 14 leaders of the

mutiny were all executed. She went to his hometown sea coast and committed

suicide in order to meet him after life. It is a very touching love story with outstanding

performance of both actress and actor.

Japanese Empire was glories for about 75 years ended in 1945. It began to the down

fall due to the wars. I am watching some old Japanese movies which described the

background of the history, the society and the life of commoners. I am very please

to see that Japan, a nation as a whole, come back alive and prosperous.

五所平之助之宴1967，提到1936年日本兵變之故事，片中藉一段戀愛，解釋

此小兵變之背景，我讀過此記載，也剛參觀過北之丸，舊京畿衛戍師營舍，甚

感親切，但主要受這位痴情女主角所感動，此兵變三日始末，結束自日本明治

維新後之政治暗殺風氣。我讀谷歌維基，此兵變為青年右翼陸軍將校，倉卒發

難，其中一位領兵中尉，他之單戀女友之故事。

女友出身小康家庭，父母親經營一有規模之餐廳，女孩也在餐廳當招待，其兄

為中尉陸軍士校之同窗，是左派青年，但已輟學，常與法律週旋，並入獄服思

想罪，妹妹一直愛慕這位兄長同學，有次甚至為兄書信，親自搭火車，專程遞

交住在日本海岸之兄友，後來，女孩她嫁，也常有兄長帶來之音訊。

這位嫉世不平之青年軍官，入伍後，即為右翼組織所網絡，這是一群士校出身

，而無意也無法，繼續深造陸軍戰爭學院，走向軍中升遷坦途者，這些軍官主

張，日本陸軍應秉持傳統，而非模仿普魯士陸軍，當年，日本在滿洲用兵，中

尉隷屬之師團，即將調往滿洲國，他的組織，約是遭到軍方注意，於是挺而走

險，倉促發難。

離婚後之女孩，也在獄中，與即將被槍決之心中愛人面會，劇中結局，是女孩

在愛人故鄉，日本海岸，洶濤海浪，服毒自盡，約是期待愛人，魂歸故鄉。

還好我是老年，始得欣賞如此動人心弦之影片，否則不知需感傷多久？

Kenji Mizoguchi, another old deceased director of the past in Japan, directed this

1954 film about a brief life occurred at a geishadom in Kyoto. The original title of

the film in Japanese, uwasa no onna, means the woman in the rumor which is

interested to me due to the use of a classical Kanji uwasa, means gathering talk,

rumor, or gossip. I watched the movie twice to make sense to the title in English

translation. It is about a story of a whore house during the hard time of Japan after

WWII.

The daughter is brought back home from Tokyo after a suicide attempt due to her

fiancée abruptly ended the relationship. It is because that he learns her mother is

operating a geishadom at home which is considered a low class business in Japanese

society. The girl can’t take it anymore of her life. The mother, a widow herself, asks

her younger lover, a physician, to help to see the depressed daughter. It starts with a

very slowly pace among them.

One day, one of the employee comes back sick at the mid-term of her duty. The

physician gives a shot to release her pain temporarily and the daughter joins to help.

The rest of young women are surprised of her kindness and come close to chat even

offer advice about personal experience towards changed mind lovers. The house is

very busy in business. Finally, the sick woman is diagnosis with cancer and is sent to

a hospital for cure and dies.

The young physician and the daughter have developed love affection and decide to

go to Tokyo together. Mother finds the fact and tries to persuade him to stay to open

his own clinic. He is not moved at all and she finally gives up. Instead, she gives him

prepared loan for the clinic to him for his use of any purpose. The daughter learns

the relationship between her mother and her new lover refuses to Tokyo with him

and even posts a threat to stab him with a sharp successors. Mother disarms her in

time to release the physician. It is very dramatic.

Mother is ill after all and can’t operate daily business and the young daughter steps

in to help. She feels that she has been live in this business for all her life and no longer

resents the business. The deceased woman’s younger sister comes back for a job as

a courtesan intern because difficult life at the village with a sick father. The movie ends

there with a busy business demands tied up with the young Madame.

This is a typical life which people are suffering after they enter the world as described

In Buddhism.
